Abstract:
This data set consists of data points collected by Greg Linscombe and Noel Kinler of Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, Fur and Refuge Division. Visual observations were conducted by helicopter along vegetative survey flight lines. At each point, vegetative parameters were recorded, including species information, for the time period between 1989 and 1995.
Purpose: To assess the vegetative parameters of Caernarvon Basin.

The accuracy is not based on a formal quantitative assessment and is based on the judgement and experience of the scientific observer in the field. To attain a better estimate of accuracy, a formal re-evaluation of the vegetative surveys would be necessary.
Logical_Consistency_Report:
Using the flight line transects, data was collected and recorded in field notes and on aerial photography. For each point, the same parameters were measured by two experienced scientific observers.
Completeness_Report:
There are no known omissions in the data set. Spacing between observed points is not exact. Equal distance between points were desired, but may not have been achieved for all points.

Process_Description:
The original data set was collected through visual field observation by Greg Linscombe and Noel Kinler of LDWF. The observations were made while flying over the study area (Caernarvon) in a Bell 206 Jet Ranger helicopter. Observations were recorded at each point along the pre-determined flights lines in field notes and on aerial photography. The points from the aerial photos were transposed into a GIS data base, and the attributes' (parameters) values assigned for the given point.
