Examining winter bird use of Chinese tallow woodlands and tallow fruit. Conducting winter point counts in paired forest patches of tallow-dominated woodlands and native riparian woodlands. Data collected will determine species richness and relative abundance of migratory birds utilizing those habitats. Another part of this project will examine the energy assimilation of tallow fruit compared to two species of native fruits via apparent metabolizable energy trials. Bird species used will include Yellow-rumped Warblers and American Robins.
