Details on Data Set
- Full Title : Ecology of
Live Bottom Habitats of the Northeastern Gulf of Mexico: A Community
Profile
- Summary Information :
- Objectives: The objective of this Community Profile is to summarize
available data on the ecology of the live bottom communities of
the northeastern Gulf of Mexico between the Mississippi River Delta
and Cape San Blas. The study area extends from the coastline (excluding
embayments) to approximately the 200 m (656 ft) isobath. Community
profiles help develop a picture of living biological resources and
serve as a reference for both research and resource management interests.
- Project Cooperation: This study was procured to meet information
needs identified by the Minerals Management Service (MMS) in concert
with the U.S. Geological Survey, Biological Resources Division (BRD).
- Disclaimer: This report was prepared under contract between the
U.S. Geological Survey, BRD and Continental Shelf Associates, Inc.
This report has been technically reviewed by the BRD and the MMS,
and has been approved for publication. Approval does not signify
that the contents neccessarily reflect the views and policies of
the BRD or MMS, nor does mention of trade names or commercial products
constitute endorsement or recommendation for use.
- Contractor Report: Contractor reports record scientific and technical
findings generated by a contractor's or grantee's BRD-sponsored
efforts. They are prepared entirely by the contractor, are sometimes
peer-reviewed in accordance with the specifications of the individual
contract, and once accepted by BRD as a contract deliverable, are
not generally changed or enhanced by BRD. Some contractor reports
may not be independently peer reviewed.
