Details on Vegetation Data Set (1992)
- Full Title :
National Wetlands Research Center, Vegetation Data for St. Vincent National
Wildlife Refuge, Apalachicola, Florida, USA, in 1992.
- Summary Information
: More detailed information is in the metadata file, and
in accessory file listing classification scheme of data. Basic details
are:
- Geographic area is Gulf of Mexico coastal areas
in association with the St. Vincent National Wildlife Refuge, Apalachicola,
Florida, USA, consisting of 4 standard USGS 7.5 min (1:24,000 scale)
map areas. Coverage area is only of the vegetation data for the
Pig Island Unit and St. Vincent Island Unit shown in the graphic
above.
- Subject is vegetative data, consisting of classified
wetlands completed utilizing a specific landcover classification
scheme focusing on vegetation communities developed specifically
for the St. Vincent Wildlife Refuge Project. Data was prepared primarily
using stereoscopic analysis of high altitude aerial photography,
and wetlands were classified according to a project specific classification
scheme developed under a USFWS-USGS Research Partnership Program
Project.
- Date is 1992, but varies within that year based
on source photography used in data development.
- Format is vector type data from Arc/Info GIS software,
in polygon and line topology.
- Digital data size for all the 1992 data is 3.90
megabytes for 6 files. Note: these are compressed format files (in
Arc/Info export file (.e00) compression format) which are 20 to
50 percent of final size per area.
- Data:
- Metadata and
Other Files:
- Metadata are in NBII format, which is compliant
with FGDC standards. If unfamilar with the NBII and the FGDC, please
review the Metadata Standard.
- The index file can assist in finding the desired
7.5 minute quadrangle and/or the 30x60 minute quadrangle.
- The classification scheme for identified areas may
be needed to use the data. The legend file is found below and can
be downloaded.
- Other Information
